Twenty years of traditional luxury practice

Chris Itteilag has spent more than 20 years representing buyers and sellers of high-end homes in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. Two decades. Two of Washington’s most storied luxury firms. He built the first half of his career at Long & Foster | Christie’s International Real Estate, where he and his mother, Nancy Itteilag, led the top team in the DC region at Long & Foster | Christie’s International Real Estate, and the more recent half at Washington Fine Properties. Those years produced the things that cannot be shortcut in luxury real estate: deep familiarity with individual streets and buildings, long-standing relationships with other leading agents, owners and advisors, and a reputation for discretion. They are why so many of his clients’ opportunities begin off-market.

The Itteilag family legacy in Washington real estate

Real estate is a family tradition for Chris, a native Washingtonian. His mother, Nancy Itteilag, is a longtime DC agent, and many of Chris’s past sales were handled together as a mother-and-son team. His earliest real estate memories go back to age four or five, spending afternoons in her office (the copy room was a favorite), and to school-run car rides spent listening to her negotiate deals. Growing up around Washington real estate gave him an early, practical education in the city’s neighborhoods and clients, and a network of multi-generational relationships that still serves buyers and sellers today.

He earned his real estate license while at the College of Charleston, and graduated from the College of Charleston, where he studied geology, Japanese and studio art. After graduation he chose real estate over other offers to follow his mother into the business. He started just as the financial crisis hit. Rather than change course, he doubled down, and learning to keep deals together and clients succeeding in a hard market is how he learned the business. He went on to complete a master’s degree in real estate at Georgetown University in 2015, with a thesis on the Capital Region’s luxury residential market and luxury branding. Georgetown is also where both of his parents studied, and while there he studied songwriting with Bill Danoff, the Georgetown alumnus who co-wrote “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Chris sees a direct line from songwriting to his work: in both, you have a short window to tell a story that matters.

That breadth still shows up in his work. Geology taught him to read land: terrain, slopes, soils and water, which matters on a Potomac lot, a Great Falls acreage or an Eastern Shore shoreline. Japanese gave him a global outlook that helps him connect with international and relocating buyers. Studio art sharpened his eye for design, light and presentation, which shapes how he prepares, stages and markets a home. Add graduate training in real estate and you have an advisor whose analytical, cultural and creative sides all serve the client.

Georgetown is home in every sense: today Chris lives in Georgetown with his family. He calls clients who leave the neighborhood and later return “boomerang buyers,” and he counts himself among them; he believes there is no other neighborhood quite like it, in the country or the world. Asked where he sees himself in five years, his answer is simple: right here, serving the community he loves.

Licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia, at every price point

Chris is licensed and actively practicing in all three Capital Region jurisdictions: the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. He works across the region’s most sought-after neighborhoods, from Georgetown, Kalorama and the Palisades to Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Potomac, McLean and Easton on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. He offers the highest level of both buyer and seller representation at every price point, from first-time and entry-level purchases to ultra-luxury estates, with the same principal-level standard of service for every client. Career highlights range from a $750,000 Georgetown condominium to Fessenden House in NW Washington, DC ($18,000,000).

For buyers

The highest level of buyer representation at every price point, from a first condominium to an ultra-luxury estate: honest neighborhood comparisons across DC, Maryland and Virginia, early access to private and off-market opportunities, rigorous pricing analysis and principal-level negotiation.

For sellers

The highest level of seller representation at every price point: strategic pricing and preparation, SERHANT media production and national buyer exposure, discreet off-market options when privacy matters, and Chris personally leading every negotiation through closing.
